"Simple Beauty is dedicated to the memory of my beloved Grandma. She is my inspiration, not only in my music, but as a woman and a person. Alzheimer’s disease robbed her of her memories and her life, but I will never forget the incredible beauty that existed in her.

In my early years of studying piano, Gram literally stood over my shoulder to watch me practice. Gradually, as my music abilities advanced, she became my page turner, sitting on the bench with me for hours waiting for the ‘nods.’

Simple Beauty is a simple act of love from a granddaughter to her grandma. The musical selections express the beautiful relationship we shared. All the music was recorded in my small home, which was originally her house, on my private piano. I opted not to edit anything. It’s not perfect, but I wanted to play the pieces as if my gram was sitting on the bench with me, turning my pages.

My grandmother was a natural caregiver – as a mother, grandmother, and a nurse. She even took care of all the neighborhood kids when I was growing up. My parents often came home to 7 kids instead of the usual 4. I have chosen to support an organization that I know would honor her legacy. Kingston Cares is a community organization which focuses on preventing and reducing substance use among the youth of Kingston. Some of their major initiatives include youth development programming, and a college readiness program.
